Your Ultimate Guide to Microblading Prep & Aftercare
At Babyface Brows, we’re here to make sure your Microblading and Permanent Eyebrows experience is seamless, safe, and, most importantly, aesthetically balancing! Great brows don’t just happen—a little prep and aftercare go a long way. Let’s dive into the essentials you need to know before and after your appointment.
PRE-TREATMENT INSTRUCTIONS
Want properly healed results? Here’s how to prepare:
Blood Thinners:
One week before your appointment, avoid aspirin (anything with acetylsalicylic acid), ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin), Aleve, vitamin E, St. John’s Wort, gingko, evening primrose oil, garlic, ginseng, and feverfew. These increase bleeding, which isn’t ideal for microblading.
On prescription blood thinners? Don’t stop taking them without first consulting us or your doctor.
Drinking Alcohol:
Avoid alcohol for at least 24 hours before your appointment. Thinned blood and alcohol don’t mix well with microblading magic.
Skip the Tweezing & Waxing:
Hold off on any brow waxing, tweezing, or threading for at least 2 days before your appointment. Let your skin be irritation-free.
Fresh & Clean Brows:
Arrive with clean eyebrows, free from makeup or products. A blank canvas sets us up for perfection!
POST-TREATMENT INSTRUCTIONS
Once your brows have been treated with Microblading or Nano Brows, here’s how to keep them looking their best:
Normal Reactions:
Mild soreness or tenderness? Totally normal. If you experience moderate or severe pain, call us immediately.
Redness and swelling should subside within a few days. If it lingers beyond 3 days, don’t hesitate to contact us.
Gentle Touch Only:
Avoid applying pressure to your brows. Treat them like a fresh wound that you are allowing to heal without disturbance.
Sleep on your back for the first 24 hours to avoid friction.
Skip heat and excessive water exposure until swelling or bruising disappears.
Keep It Chill:
On treatment day, avoid activities that cause facial flushing—heavy exercise, tanning, or drinking alcohol.
Cool It Down:
Use a cool compress or wrapped ice pack on your brows for 15 minutes every few hours to reduce swelling or bruising. Any bruising should clear up within 7-10 days.
Bonus: Arnica Montana:
For extra love, consider Arnica Montana. Dissolve 5 pellets under your tongue 3 times a day to speed up healing or use a topical version for soothing care.
Need Backup?
Keep in mind that these are just best practices and tips! Even if you forget a step or accidentally touch your eyebrows, it’s not the end of the world. For example, if you accidentally get your eyebrows wet, simply pat dry with a clean paper towel.
Since eyebrow tattooing is a commitment, we want to ensure that you get the best healed results that your skin and our artistry can allow for. If the above tips seem too much of a hassle, we recommend trying other alternatives first, such as Brow Tinting or Brow Sculpting to help you achieve a better shape!
